Military Medical Journal is the official journal of Egyptian Armed Forces Medical Services. Authors from other universities/ institutions all over the world are welcomed in MMJ. MMJ is a peer-reviewed journal publishes manuscripts related to clinical/basic medical science. MMJ will not accept either the previously published manuscripts or under revision, publication in another journal.
If an abstract of the same work is published, this should be mentioned by the author. Previous abstract publication or presentation is not a cause for excluding/rejecting articles.
Authorship
Authors submitting a paper must have the manuscript read and approved by all co-authors. They must agree to submit the manuscript to the Military Medical Journal.
Military Medical Journal is following the instructions of authorship of The International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE):
1) Substantial contributions to conception and design of, or acquisition of data or analysis and interpretation of data.
2) Drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
3) Final approval of the version to be published in the journal either in the printed or online version.
The details of all co-authors must be submitted during the submission with the manuscript. If the details are not supplied, the manuscript will be sent back to the corresponding author to supply the missing information.
Submission:
All submitted manuscripts to MMJ journal will be reviewed by the experts in the particular filed. If the manuscript did not match the aims and scope of MMJ, it will be rejected immediately without reviewing or any interfering from the journal side.
Online Submission:
The author submits his/her manuscript through the journal system through the following link: http://mmj.journals.ekb.eg, this system will manage the peer review process, if the author hasn’t submitted any manuscript to MMJ, the author should register himself/herself at once to create an account as an author, then the system will send the log in credentials to the email. After that, log in to the website and submit your manuscript to the journal website. When the author submits his/her manuscript, an automatic email will be sent from the journal system as an acknowledgment of receipt of the submitted manuscript. Original article:
Including observational studies (cross-sectional, case-control, prospective and retrospective cohorts) and interventional studies (phase I,II and randomized controlled studies).
- Word count: a maximum of 4.000 words not including the title, tables, graphs, and references.
- The clinical trial registration number should be also mentioned (if registered).
- In the case of interventional studies, ethical approval providing an entity that approved and monitored the study must be mentioned.
Review article:
Including narrative reviews, systematic reviews ad meta-analysis, as well as guidelines.
- Word count: a maximum of 4.000 words not including the title, tables, graphs, and references.
- A summary of 300-400 words should be provided at the end of the review article.
Case report/case series:
- Word count: a maximum of 2.500 words not including the title and references.
- Patient (s) confidentiality must be guaranteed, informed consent should be submitted.
- Photos should be of high quality in 300 dpi (jpeg, tiff, pnj) with no patient identifier(s).
Short communications/commentaries:
Commentaries address important, evolving, highly visible, and often controversial topics.
-Word count: a maximum of 3.000 words and a reasonable number of references.
Editorial:
Editorials are short articles on issues of topical importance.
- Word count: a maximum of 2.000 words not including title and references.
Letter to the editor:
Comments on the articles published at MMJ are welcomed.
- Word count: a maximum of 1500 words not including title and references.
- Maximum of 10 references.
- No tables, graphs or figures.
Tables:
Tables should be numbered in Arabic numbers; all tables should be cited in the context. Each table should contain the title, footnote, the definition of the abbreviations should be mentioned in the footnote as well.
Figures:
Should be submitted separately during the submission process. The figure legends should be also written in the manuscript files as a subheading.
Abbreviations:
All abbreviations that are not standard in the particular file should be defined at the first mention. Ensure the consistency through the manuscript.
Patient consent form:
The authors are requested to submit a signed consent form from the patients – or patient’s parents for the children).
Conflict of interest:
Any financial or personal relationship either with people or organizations and institutions should be mentioned in this section. If not applicable, please write the following statement (There is no conflict of interests to declare).

Plagiarism:
The submitted manuscripts should be original and are not previously published in another journal (The presented abstracts in conferences are accepted). The originality checker in the editorial process will screen all the submitted manuscripts. If the manuscript exceeded the limit of the percentage of the plagiarism, it will be rejected, the author will be notified via email.
Copyright Policy:
The journal allows the author(s) to hold the copyright, and to retain publishing rights without any restrictions.
Article Possessing Charge:
The journal is published in both print and online version and all articles published in Military Medical Journal are fully open access and freely available online, immediately upon publication. Publication Fee is free of charge.
Article Withdrawal Policy:
The submitted manuscripts can be withdrawn during the editorial and reviewing process. It cannot be withdrawn after acceptance.
